Make this summer fun and refreshingly cool! Democratic Progressive Party Kaohsiung City Councilor Huang Wen-Zhi launched the 'Summer Fun Bubble Water Play Park' today (9th) at the temple square of Fengping Temple in Nanzih's Houjing district. The event featured giant inflatable slides, bubble pools, and family-friendly water play activities, along with limited-edition water guns given out to attendees. The lively event ran from 2 PM to 5 PM, allowing children to burn off energy and families to enjoy quality summer bonding time.
Huang Wen-Zhi, a father himself, emphasized his understanding of parents' needs during summer break. He intentionally scheduled the family event the day after Father’s Day, transforming the temple plaza into a summer water park. 'We want children to have a safe and fun place to cool down, and parents to relax and connect in a stress-free environment,' he said. 'We hope Zuonan becomes more than just a place to work and live—it should be a place where families enjoy fun and convenient parenting experiences. This is the lifestyle we call Zuonan “Hó Khiā-Khí” (good to stand up/live well).'
Attendees could receive a free limited-edition water gun by checking in on social media and liking the official page—while supplies lasted. To combat the summer heat, shaded tents were provided for parents to rest and cool down. Families were encouraged to join the 'Family Water Gun Battle' and create joyful summer memories together.
'Summer break is for doing fun things!' Huang highlighted that Zuonan has been steadily expanding family-friendly recreational spaces. The Xiangping Water Park, which he actively advocated for, located near the Metropolitan Park MRT Station, attracts numerous families from April to September each year. Additionally, improvements at Kaohsiung Metropolitan Park and Houjing Park have introduced diverse, unique play equipment, allowing children to play freely while parents supervise with peace of mind.
Huang stressed that a livable city requires more than just industry and transportation—it needs leisure spaces that make families want to stay. Moving forward, he will continue promoting all-age parks and family recreation zones, from children’s playgrounds and water features to elderly rest areas. His vision is to transform Zuonan from an industrial hub into a family-friendly haven where children can play, parents can raise families with ease, and all generations enjoy life—truly realizing the 'Hó Khiā-Khí' lifestyle.
