Amid growing attention on the New Taipei City mayoral race, Chen Zhaoxian, third-generation member of the renowned Ming Hua Yuan Opera Troupe and团长 of the Fengshen Baby Children's Theatre, has publicly endorsed Su Chiao-hui, legislative member and mayoral candidate. Following endorsements from former President Tsai Ing-wen, Olympic boxing gold medalist Lin Yu-ting, and Wu Chia-hua, fourth-generation representative of Yingge’s century-old craft brand Xinwang Jici, Chen’s support adds cultural and artistic weight to Su’s campaign.

In a newly released social media video today (the 10th), Su Chiao-hui invited Chen Zhaoxian to share their long-standing relationship and collaborative journey. As fellow inheritors of cultural legacies, both women have dedicated themselves to promoting Taiwanese culture, children's arts, and education. Chen expressed her hope that Su’s mayoral run will allow her to “take one more step forward” to become the strongest supporter for artists, children, and future generations. She emphasized her deep impression of Su with the words: “She’s someone who thinks for you.”

Chen founded the Fengshen Baby Children's Theatre in 2012, blending traditional Taiwanese opera (gezai xi), local culture, and modern stagecraft to make traditional art accessible to children. Over the years, the troupe has actively promoted children's arts and has been repeatedly recognized as a “Distinguished Performing Arts Group” by New Taipei City.

Recalling her first collaboration with Su in 2017 on the children’s play *Fengshen Baby and the Flaming Mountain*, Chen said what stood out wasn’t the applause, but Su’s response to the performance fee proposal. Instead of immediately negotiating down the price, Su asked: “With this scale and budget, will you and your team be under a lot of pressure?”

This moment left a lasting impression on Chen. She noted that it’s rare to encounter someone who doesn’t just focus on cost, but genuinely considers the well-being of performers and arts managers. This empathy has built deep trust between them over years of collaboration.

Both women share a vision: to enrich children with art and help them connect with Taiwan’s own stories. “We still want to do better, to do more—for Taiwan’s next generation,” Chen said. Another shared passion is their long-term commitment to children’s podcasts. Chen runs *Fengshen Baby Tells Stories*, while Su hosts *Otter Mom Qiao Qiao Speaks*, which has released over 300 episodes in more than six years.

Chen deeply respects the time and effort required to sustain such a project amid busy schedules. “It’s not just a podcast—it’s Su turning her care for children into real action,” she said. Watching Su narrate on *Otter Mom Qiao Qiao Speaks*, Chen observed: “Her eyes sparkle.” To her, this reflects Su’s genuine love and passion for children.

As the daughter of Ming Hua Yuan’s renowned团长 Chen Sheng-fu and opera star Sun Cui-feng, Chen grew up under high expectations and understands the weight of “inheritance.” She sees a deep resonance with Su—both are next-generation leaders building on their parents’ exceptional achievements. Facing immense expectations, they are determined not just to preserve, but to innovate and carry forward Taiwan’s cultural values in ways that resonate with younger generations.

Chen believes Su’s ability to “think for you”—to empathize with diverse perspectives—is her greatest strength. A true leader, she says, doesn’t just propose policies but understands what artists, families, and children truly need. With Su’s mayoral run, Chen hopes she can amplify her long-standing commitment into transformative action. She concluded: “I truly hope Su Chiao-hui will become the strongest pillar of support—for artists, for children, and for Taiwan’s future.”
