Currently, the battery market is dominated by lithium batteries, with sodium batteries accounting for less than 1%. However, numerous American companies are optimistic about the future of sodium batteries and are increasing their investments. Industrial giant General Motors (General Motors) is developing its own sodium-based batteries, and several startups have already begun small-scale production of such batteries, racing to expand their manufacturing capacity.
In July of this year, Peak Energy announced the construction of a 'gigafactory' in Texas. A recent report from Morgan Stanley predicts that within the next 10 years, more than one-third of all batteries produced globally will use sodium instead of lithium.
