According to the UK's 'The Guardian,' Hollywood's epic blockbuster 'Odyssey' has surpassed $1 billion in global box office revenue in less than a month since its release, becoming director Christopher Nolan's highest-grossing film to date.
'Odyssey' premiered on July 17 and is adapted from the ancient Greek poet Homer's epic poem. It follows the perilous 10-year journey home of King Odysseus of Ithaca, portrayed by Matt Damon, after the Trojan War.
The film has received critical acclaim and achieved a global box office of $1.104 billion (approximately NT$35.5 billion), making it Christopher Nolan's most commercially successful film.
'Odyssey' has surpassed Nolan's previous highest-grossing film, the 2012 Batman film 'The Dark Knight Rises,' which earned $1.085 billion. Its 2008 predecessor, 'The Dark Knight,' grossed $1.005 billion.
Nolan, who won the Academy Award for Best Director for 'Oppenheimer,' has directed major hits including 'Tenet,' 'Dunkirk,' and 'Interstellar.' The cumulative global box office of his films now exceeds $7 billion.
