According to the latest Forbes billionaire ranking, Lin Congji, founder of server slide rail giant Chuanhu Technology, has seen his net worth rise to $16.7 billion (approximately NT$538 billion), making him the wealthiest individual in Taiwan. In response, Xie Jinhe, chairman of Wealth Media, posted on Facebook stating that Chuanhu holds 3,600 patents, creating a moat that is virtually unbreakable. There have been rumors that NVIDIA is attempting to cultivate a second supplier, with Nanjun in Yunlin receiving significant attention, but the gap between the two companies remains substantial.
Xie Jinhe pointed out that Taiwan's billionaire rankings resemble a scrolling ticker—just within the past two days, Chuanhu's chairman Lin Congji has overtaken Chen Tai-ming to become the top name, sparking widespread discussion. While the name Lin Congji may be unfamiliar to most, he represents a classic example of how Taiwan's industries create value.
Xie emphasized that Lin Congji is not alone—Zhao Zongxin of Jiance and Xie Minda of Hongjing are also representative 'technically grounded entrepreneurs.' These leaders rarely wear suits, instead donning work uniforms and spending their time in factories researching machinery. Lin Congji, Zhao Zongxin, and Xie Minda are all classic examples of individuals who have dedicated their lives to mastering one craft.
Xie noted that Lin Congji's rise to the top of the billionaire list has made Chuanhu a focal point of attention, and its stock has become Taiwan's third 'NT$10,000-per-share' stock. Over the past few years, Xie has led inspection tours to Chuanhu. The company evolved from manufacturing traditional kitchen drawer rails to becoming the world's largest linear slide rail supplier for servers, creating numerous legendary achievements.
Is NVIDIA Trying to Cultivate a Second Chuanhu?
Xie pointed out that two years ago, market rumors suggested NVIDIA was seeking to develop a second supplier, with Nanjun in Yunlin Science Park being highly anticipated. However, over the past two years, Chuanhu has grown even stronger. While Nanjun has improved, the gap remains vast. Nanjun's July revenue reached NT$280 million, while Chuanhu's hit NT$6.407 billion, a year-on-year increase of 136.6%. More importantly, Chuanhu's gross margin stands at an astonishing 87.4%, compared to Nanjun's 41.5%—a significant disparity.
Xie revealed that Chuanhu holds 3,600 patents in the linear rail field, making it nearly impossible to design around them—this moat is unbreakable. Furthermore, globally, only Chuanhu and Nanjun are serious players in this space; China has yet to produce a competitor with sufficient strength, further solidifying Chuanhu's dominant position.
Xie added that Lin Congji has only daughters; his eldest daughter, Lin Shu-chen, serves as General Manager, and her husband, Wang Junqiang, is Vice General Manager. The family works together harmoniously to run the company effectively. Chuanhu earned a staggering NT$7.088 billion in Q2, with EPS of NT$74.38 and H1 EPS of NT$110.96. Some may say, 'It's just two iron bars—how can they generate such shocking performance?' This, precisely, is Taiwan's industrial legend!
Xie concluded that the billionaire rankings are like a scrolling ticker, with fortunes rising and falling with stock prices. However, clear trends emerge: AI is the new source of wealth creation, and those riding the AI wave see their fortunes surge. Meanwhile, billionaires who rose on China-market opportunities are now seeing their valuations decline.
