Taiwan's military 'Han Kuang 42' live-fire exercise continues to advance, with the Army Special Operations Command conducting a 'deep defense – ambush operation' at a key transportation route in New Taipei City in the early hours of today (12). Under dark conditions, troops accurately employed command, control, and strike equipment to successfully disable an enemy armored convoy and eliminate high-value enemy personnel, showcasing the special forces' nighttime combat and deep defensive interdiction capabilities.

The Ministry of National Defense stated that the exercise involved a detachment formed by the Special Operations Command. Troops secretly infiltrated and occupied elevated positions in the ambush zone at night, rapidly establishing reconnaissance, sniper, and anti-armor positions. During the operation, they employed micro-drones, thermal imaging scopes, and PVS-31 binocular night-vision goggles to conduct continuous surveillance and dynamic tracking of enemy forces advancing along the target road.

The Ministry noted that the detachment achieved multi-layered firepower effects. First, the anti-armor team used Javelin missiles to precisely strike the lead and rear vehicles of the enemy convoy, successfully disabling the convoy and sealing off its movement. Subsequently, the sniper team used heavy sniper rifles to precisely eliminate high-ranking enemy personnel and light wheeled command vehicles trapped within the convoy, immediately severing the enemy's command chain. This was followed by fire-directed suppression to further annihilate enemy forces.

The Ministry emphasized that after confirming the effectiveness of the firepower strikes, the detachment leveraged the special forces' characteristics of 'speed and stealth' to swiftly disengage from combat and relocate to a subsequent concealed position, demonstrating high-efficiency tactical mobility. This nighttime ambush drill not only validated the special forces' real-world capabilities in nighttime command and control, battlefield surveillance, and heavy weapon operation, but also deepened the纵深 defense system, achieving the strategic goal of 'defensive consolidation and multi-layered deterrence'.
