Taiwan’s automotive market maintained strong momentum in the second half of 2026. Although new car registrations in July dipped slightly from the previous month, overall volumes remained at a high level.
According to the latest registration data, a total of 38,657 new vehicles were registered across Taiwan in July. This marks a decrease of 2,704 units compared to June, yet still ranks as the third-highest monthly figure this year, narrowly trailing March’s peak of 39,318 units.
Notably, July is not traditionally a peak delivery month for Tesla, and without a surge in electric vehicle brand registrations, the market still approached the 40,000-unit threshold—indicating that consumer demand has not significantly cooled.
Looking at individual brands, several automakers posted growth compared to June. Lexus saw a 23.4% month-on-month increase in registrations, making it the standout performer among luxury brands. Toyota continued to lead the market, registering 12,807 units in July alone, securing a market share exceeding 30% and widening its gap over competitors.
