Taiwan Sugar's salad oil, affected by the recent Chung Lian tainted oil incident, has been officially cleared for relisting after the Kaohsiung City Government Health Bureau completed its review. The company received official documentation yesterday (12th) confirming that the product 'meets regulatory requirements and is approved for relisting.' Taiwan Sugar stated that its soybean salad oil passed 32 inspections with consistent quality, expressing gratitude to the Kaohsiung Health Bureau for completing the review and permitting relisting. Moving forward, the company will prioritize stabilizing market supply and meeting consumer demand.
Following the relisting approval, Taiwan Sugar will prioritize fulfilling existing supply contracts. Its self-operated Mi Lin stores and Taiwan Sugar gas stations began restocking from 4:00 PM on the 12th, while other retail channels will resume sales following coordination with respective partners, with announcements to follow.
Regarding the incident, Taiwan Sugar clarified that the crude oil sourced from Formosa Oil was not within the scope of the reported tainted products, and currently, Taiwan has not established inspection standards for the relevant items. Nevertheless, Taiwan Sugar continues to enforce stricter inspection criteria as stipulated in its procurement contracts to strengthen raw material controls and demonstrate its commitment to food safety.
To further enhance raw material autonomy and food safety, Taiwan Sugar has committed to ceasing external crude oil purchases starting in the second half of this year. Instead, it will import soybeans directly from the United States and process them at its own facilities, strictly adhering to its established SOPs and manufacturing standards to strengthen quality control from raw materials to production.
This adjustment reflects Taiwan Sugar's commitment to brand quality and its response to consumer trust in food safety. The company will continue to improve its food safety management systems to ensure stable product quality.
On the supply side, Taiwan Sugar currently has a maximum monthly production capacity of approximately 1,000 metric tons of salad oil. With major holidays like Mid-Autumn Festival approaching, the company will prioritize stable market supply and price stability to meet consumer demand as much as possible.
Taiwan Sugar emphasized that all required inspections and reviews were completed prior to relisting and confirmed compliant by the Kaohsiung Health Bureau, assuring consumers that the product is safe to purchase and use.
