The Bureau of Labor Insurance (BLI) is disbursing funds! According to the BLI’s calendar, various social insurance benefits, subsidies, and allowances will be credited to recipients’ accounts throughout August. Among them, the 'National Pension Insurance Childbirth Benefit' was officially disbursed today (August 13). Due to the recent increase in the monthly insured salary base for National Pension, eligible mothers can now receive up to NT$42,206 in a single payout.

In addition to the childbirth benefit, 17 other subsidies will be released in stages before the end of August. Eligible individuals are advised to closely monitor their account activity.

Mothers, quickly check your bankbooks! National Pension childbirth benefit raised to a maximum of NT$42,206 per birth

According to BLI regulations, female insured persons who give birth or experience premature delivery during an active period of National Pension coverage—and who have not received childbirth benefits from other social insurance programs (such as Labor Insurance or Civil Servant Insurance)—are eligible to apply for the National Pension childbirth benefit.

Starting this year, the monthly insured salary base for National Pension has been raised to NT$21,103. The benefit is calculated as two months’ worth of the monthly insured amount, paid as a lump sum. As a result, the childbirth benefit per birth has increased from the previous NT$39,522 to NT$42,206. For multiple births, the benefit amount is proportionally increased based on the number of babies:

· Single birth: NT$21,103 × 2 months = NT$42,206 · Twins: NT$21,103 × 4 months = NT$84,412 · Triplets: NT$21,103 × 6 months = NT$126,618 (and so on)

Additionally, if an insured person becomes pregnant during their coverage period and gives birth or experiences premature delivery within one year after termination of coverage due to the same pregnancy, they remain eligible to apply—provided they have not received childbirth benefits from another social insurance program.

Deadline means forfeiture! Be sure to observe the '5-year statute of limitations' for claiming childbirth benefits

The BLI emphasizes that, according to Article 28 of the National Pension Act, there is a five-year statute of limitations for claiming childbirth benefits. The claim period begins the day after the insured person gives birth or experiences premature delivery, and applications must be submitted within five years. Failure to apply within this timeframe results in the legal denial of benefits, and all rights will be forfeited. Eligible mothers are strongly encouraged to file their applications promptly.
