Jollyhome, which manages nearly 30,000 rental units through its 'Jollyhome Property Management' and 'Hermit Crab' brands, is embroiled in controversy over major shareholder Li Jiancheng's issuance of corporate bonds to raise funds. After Zhaoji's corporate bonds collapsed, Acer's legal representative Li Wenxiang took over Jollyhome's board but abruptly resigned within two days, citing the discovery of 'internal management deficiencies.' Remarkably, Li Wenxiang had served as the legal representative of 'Zhaoji' until mid-last year and also personally serves as head of another rental management company, 'Starhong.' Acer's decision to appoint a former legal representative of 'Zhaoji Investment' as a director at Jollyhome reveals severe lapses in corporate governance.
According to sources, Li Jiancheng's investment firm 'Zhaoji Investment' not only used the anticipated stock listing of 'Jollyhome Property Management' as a pretext to fund his private investment vehicle but also held the fundraising presentation at Jollyhome's headquarters on Jianguo North Road in Taipei City. Ordinary investors could hardly distinguish between 'Zhaoji Investment' and 'Jollyhome Property Management,' and lured by high interest rates of 8% and 9%, became the biggest victims of this rental-sector fund-raising scheme.
