Han Kuang Exercise: Enhancing Survivability! Cobra Helicopters Provide Escort as Aviation Special Operations Detachment Conducts Nighttime Fuel and Ammunition Resupply Drill

In coordination with the progress of the 'Han Kuang 42' live-fire exercise, the Aviation Special Operations Command conducted a nighttime fuel and ammunition resupply drill on the night of the 12th to strengthen rapid battlefield resupply capabilities and enhance survivability. The command dispatched an assault detachment composed of AH-1W Cobra attack helicopters and CH-47SD transport helicopters to execute the drill, verifying wartime forward logistics support and aerial resupply capabilities to ensure sustained operational effectiveness.

The drill involved CH-47SD transport helicopters conducting nighttime external-load operations, simulating the rapid delivery of fuel to designated areas under simulated enemy threat. During the operation, AH-1W Cobra attack helicopters provided escort and aerial security. The CH-47SD helicopters took off from dispersed rear areas, loaded fuel and ammunition at resupply points, and delivered combat supplies to target operational zones.

Specifically, the CH-47SD helicopters utilized externally suspended fuel bladders, A22 fuel packs, and internally carried ammunition. Crews followed established procedures for rigging, flight, and unloading operations, demonstrating high levels of coordination and joint operational capability.

The Aviation Special Operations Command emphasized that battlefield fuel and ammunition resupply is a critical factor in maintaining aviation combat power. Through realistic training exercises such as nighttime resupply and external-load operations, the command continues to validate aerial transport, escort protection, and logistics support mechanisms.
