Domestic travelers in Taiwan can now begin planning their trips. The Tourism Administration, Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC), has specially planned a total budget of NT$3.46 billion for the 'Weekday Domestic Travel Incentive,' comprising five major schemes. These include accommodation discounts, birthday-exclusive lodging vouchers, free admission to theme parks, discounted Taiwan PASS transportation packages, and incentives for corporate employee group tours.

Individuals who stay two consecutive weeknights at the same legally registered accommodation can receive up to NT$2,000 in discounts. For those lucky enough to be selected as the month’s birthday lodging voucher winner, combining both benefits allows a single trip to save up to NT$3,200 on accommodation costs.

However, this highly anticipated nationwide incentive program is not yet open for applications. Deputy Director-General Huang Ho-Ting of the Tourism Administration explained that while the related budget has passed internal review, it still awaits second and third readings in the Legislative Yuan before final approval. The team is working hard to launch the program by September this year. The exact implementation date, official application website, and list of partner accommodations will be officially announced by the Tourism Administration in due course.

How can you maximize your savings on weekday stays? How can birthday travelers claim up to NT$3,200?

Among the five schemes planned by the Tourism Administration, the most prominent is the weekday accommodation subsidy. This offer applies to stays from Sunday through Thursday and does not apply during national holidays or long holiday periods. When guests stay at a legally registered accommodation, the first night is eligible for an NT$800 discount. If they choose to stay a second consecutive night at the same establishment, the subsidy increases to NT$1,200, allowing a maximum total discount of NT$2,000 for two consecutive nights. If the two nights are spent at different legally registered accommodations, each night receives an NT$800 discount, totaling up to NT$1,600.

In addition to the basic weekday accommodation subsidy, the Tourism Administration has also introduced a birthday bonus mechanism. This scheme operates on a pre-registration and lottery basis, with 1,000 birthday travelers selected each month. Lucky winners receive a NT$1,200 birthday lodging voucher. This birthday voucher can be used in conjunction with the weekday accommodation subsidy. This means that if a lottery winner stays two consecutive weeknights at the same accommodation, they can enjoy both the NT$2,000 consecutive-stay discount and the NT$1,200 birthday lodging voucher, resulting in a total discount of up to NT$3,200. The Tourism Administration emphasizes that the maximum NT$3,200 discount is not available to everyone—it requires meeting both conditions: staying two consecutive weeknights and winning the birthday award.

Can you also visit amusement parks for free with your stay? What other perks do Taiwan PASS and employee travel subsidies offer?

Beyond direct accommodation discounts, the Tourism Administration is extending travel experiences to include theme parks and transportation tickets. Travelers who stay at a legally registered accommodation on a weekday can present their accommodation invoice or relevant proof to gain free entry to a designated theme park once on the day of check-in or the following day.

The 26 participating theme parks span across Taiwan:

Northern Taiwan: Yehliu Ocean World, Yun Hsien Recreation Park, Little Ghost Kingdom Theme Park, Wanrui Forest Park, Ding-Dong Science Theme Park, Leofoo Village Theme Park, Shangshun Leisure World, Xihu Resort, Huoyanshan Recreation Area (9 parks)

Central Taiwan: Dongshi Forest Recreation Area, Lihpao Land, Jiujufeng Animal Park, Sunlink Lake Forest Eco-Resort, Tayal Resort, Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village, Janfusun Fancyworld (7 parks)

Southern Taiwan: Liouying Jian Shanbi Resort, Wannian World, E-DA Theme Park, Xiaokending Resort, Dalueguan Theme Park, 851 Forest Park (6 parks)

Eastern Taiwan: Green Dance Japanese Theme Park, Yi Garden Resort, Farglory Ocean Park, Taitung Indigenous Applied Botanical Garden (4 parks)

The final list of partner parks and detailed admission rules will be officially announced later.

For transportation, the Taiwan PASS weekday promotion offers two options, with 20,000 sets available for each plan, valid only from Sunday to Thursday.

Plan A: Purchase designated ticket bundles connecting high-speed rail, TRA, or metro systems at a limited-time 40% discount, priced at NT$1,000 per set.

Plan B: After purchasing a designated ticket bundle, receive an additional NT$1,500 weekday accommodation voucher per room per night.

Additionally, for corporate employee group tours, travel agencies organizing tours of 30 or more participants with at least a two-day, one-night itinerary (with no more than one holiday) can receive a NT$20,000 subsidy per group to offset employee tour fees. The handling travel agency also receives a NT$10,000 marketing incentive per group, capped at 10 groups per agency.

Are there any region-specific subsidies? How can the Kaohsiung-Matsu tour and overseas compatriots’ return travel subsidies be claimed?

In addition to the five national domestic travel schemes planned by the central Tourism Administration, some local governments and ministries have launched special subsidy programs. The Kaohsiung City Government has introduced the '2026–2027 Kaohsiung-Matsu Group Travel Subsidy Program,' targeting legally established travel agencies. As long as the tour group takes a direct flight from Kaohsiung to Matsu Nangan (either outbound or return leg), and the group size reaches 15 or more, they can apply for a maximum subsidy of NT$10,000 to offset expenses including meals in Kaohsiung, round-trip bus fares, and direct flight tickets. Applications are accepted until March 31, 2027.

Meanwhile, the Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC), in conjunction with the 2026 National Day series events, is offering a dedicated travel subsidy for overseas compatriots returning to Taiwan to participate. Eligible compatriots who complete online registration, report upon arrival in Taiwan, and collect the 'October Celebration Compatriot Certificate' can join qualified domestic travel programs of three days and two nights or longer arranged by authorized travel agencies. After attending the National Day evening gala, National Day ceremony, National Day fireworks, or visiting designated i-Compatriot Card partner stores, they can claim reimbursement using the stamped copy of their certificate. The maximum subsidy is NT$3,000 per person for general itineraries; if the trip includes Hualien or Taitung areas, the subsidy increases to up to NT$4,000. This program is exclusively for overseas compatriots and does not apply to general domestic residents.

The Tourism Administration reminds the public that the five major domestic travel incentive schemes currently attracting nationwide attention are still awaiting budget approval. The earliest possible launch is targeted for September. At this stage, the public should refrain from providing personal information or pre-registering on unofficial websites. All information should follow the official guidelines to be released later.
