Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) culture enters the library—health education takes root through reading! The Chinese Traditional Wellness Education Development Association donated 61 sets (244 books) of 'TCM Health Little Classroom' to the Kaohsiung Public Library today (14th), transforming TCM wellness knowledge into illustrated educational materials suitable for children. These books will be added to the library’s collection and made available for public borrowing, enabling children and families to learn about TCM culture through reading and build correct health concepts.

The Chinese Traditional Wellness Education Development Association has long been dedicated to promoting TCM culture and health education. In addition to publishing health education books, it continuously runs public welfare programs such as the 'Little TCM Class,' guiding children to understand the wisdom of TCM in a practical and fun way.

The 'TCM Health Little Classroom' series consists of four volumes covering topics such as yin-yang and the five elements, zang-fu organs, meridians and acupoints, and herbal medicine and body constitution. Complex TCM knowledge is presented in simple language and engaging illustrations, making it easy for children to understand.

Dr. Guo Zhezhang, Chairman of the Association, stated that TCM not only contains health-preserving knowledge but also rich Chinese cultural values. Introducing age-appropriate and accurate health education from childhood helps cultivate good health habits and allows children to deepen their understanding of traditional culture while learning about their bodies and daily wellness.

Dr. Guo added that libraries are vital venues for knowledge dissemination and cultural inheritance. He hopes that once these books are housed in the Kaohsiung Public Library, they will not only serve as public reading resources but also extend into parent-child reading and school health education, bringing TCM culture into more households.

Ms. Li Jinyang, Director of the Kaohsiung Public Library, expressed gratitude to Dr. Guo Zhezhang and the Chinese Traditional Wellness Education Development Association for their long-term commitment to public welfare and their integration of health education with reading promotion.

She noted that the 244 donated books will be added to the library’s collection and made available for borrowing. The library also plans to incorporate these books into reading promotion events, encouraging families to include health knowledge in their reading routines and helping citizens build healthy lifestyles and lifelong learning habits through reading.

Ms. Li emphasized that public libraries not only provide literary, artistic, and general knowledge resources but also play a key role in promoting life education and public knowledge. Donations of high-quality reading materials from civil organizations further enrich the library’s collection, allowing readers of all ages to access reading materials relevant to their daily lives.

The donation ceremony was attended by representatives from education, academia, and industry, including Zhongzheng Elementary School, I-Shou University, Nanrong University of Science and Technology, Chuang Song Zong Pharmaceutical, Yung Chi Paint (Rainbow Paint), Qing Lian, Port City Cable TV, and Uli Engineering Consultants Co., Ltd., demonstrating collaborative support from public, private, academic, and civil sectors for reading and health education.

The Kaohsiung Public Library stated that it will continue to integrate resources from various sectors to enrich diverse reading content. Through thematic book exhibitions, parent-child activities, and health education campaigns, it aims to transform reading from a mere channel for knowledge acquisition into an essential medium connecting families, education, and healthy living—ultimately building a city culture that values both literacy and well-being.
