Kaohsiung Deputy Mayor Lin Qinrong led officials from the City’s Department of New Construction, Social Welfare Bureau, and Health Bureau on a site inspection of the 'Qianzhen District Phase 70 Land Readjustment Area Day Care and Public Childcare Center Construction Project' on the 14th, receiving progress reports and reviewing on-site construction status. Lin emphasized that as development progresses in the Qianzhen Phase 70 Land Readjustment Area and surrounding regions, population growth and household care demands are rising. The city government is enhancing day care and public childcare capacity through public infrastructure, and this integrated facility serving both seniors and children will become a key milestone in realizing 'aging-in-place' and 'secure childcare' in Qianzhen.

Lin noted that the Phase 70 area is adjacent to the relocated 205 Ordnance Factory site and the core of the Asia New Bay Zone, with multiple residential developments underway. This has led to rapidly growing demand for affordable, high-quality childcare environments and community-based day care services for seniors. By establishing the Day Care and Public Childcare Center within Lizihnei Park, the city aims to link it with the under-construction Qianzhen Ruilong Day Care and Public Childcare Center, as well as existing private quasi-public childcare and care facilities, further expanding service capacity across the Qianzhen area.

Lin stated that the city continues to advance its 'Secure Aging, Childcare, and Community Support' policy by integrating elder day care and public childcare functions within a single public facility. This not only increases the number of care access points but also reduces long-term care and parenting burdens on families. He emphasized that care policies must go beyond service provision—they must deliver resources directly into residents’ daily lives. By leveraging public construction to create convenient and community-friendly care environments, seniors can live securely in familiar neighborhoods, and parents can easily access affordable, reliable childcare nearby, gradually building a comprehensive community care support system.

The Department of New Construction reported that the center is located within Lizihnei Park in the Qianzhen Phase 70 Land Readjustment Area. Construction began on July 1, 2025, and the two-story reinforced concrete building has a total floor area of approximately 1,326 square meters, with a construction cost of about NT$72 million. The project is nearing completion and is scheduled to be handed over to the Social Welfare and Health Bureaus for setup in September 2024.

The construction team is currently finalizing work and conducting quality inspections, strictly enforcing site safety management and construction quality control to ensure timely completion and swift deployment of care services. The Social Welfare and Health Bureaus stated that upon completion and opening, the center will provide day care services for approximately 60 seniors and public childcare spaces for about 60 children, becoming a vital social welfare service hub in the Qianzhen area.

The city government emphasized that integrating care needs across different age groups within the same community not only ensures better day care for seniors but also offers parents convenient and secure public childcare, further enhancing community quality of life. Moving forward, the city will continue assessing care service demands across districts, integrating public infrastructure with social welfare resources to gradually improve the community care network, enabling citizens to access high-quality, convenient, and reliable public services within their familiar neighborhoods, continuously elevating Kaohsiung’s livability and happiness index.
