Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Taipei mayoral candidate Shen Po-yang held a launch event today (16th) for his dental professionals' support association, with Chen Shih-chung—former minister and 2022 mayoral contender—also in attendance. Recently, DPP supporters have been chanting that supporting Shen is equivalent to clearing Chen's name regarding past vaccine controversies. In response, Chen stated that Shen is a talented individual whose performance during this campaign has been evident to all. He praised Shen's clear analysis of municipal governance, while criticizing opposing candidates for continuously evading substantive issues. Chen urged Taipei citizens to 'keep their eyes open' and vote for Shen, saying, 'With Shen in office, Taipei will run smoothly.'

Regarding Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an's accusation that the central government covered up oil quality issues, Chen responded that the Central Oil Corporation case is now being actively handled by central authorities, and other counties and cities are also managing the matter within their jurisdictions. However, he pointed out that during city council questioning, it was revealed that Taipei City itself lacks clarity on which related products should be listed. He emphasized returning focus to municipal administration, noting that while mayoral candidates may comment on national policy, such remarks have not resonated with the public. 'Enough is enough,' he said.

Shen expressed that today marks the first support group launch of his campaign, with Vice President萧美琴 (Hsiao Bi-khim) also scheduled to attend—highlighting Taipei's strategic importance. He thanked dental professionals for their support and especially acknowledged Chen Shih-chung, saying, 'Above all, I truly hope we can once again dedicate ourselves to serving Taipei.'

When asked whether his proposal to establish a 'Night Mayor' was aimed at regulating nightlife establishments, Shen clarified that the role focuses on managing nighttime order, not targeting specific industries. It also addresses conflicts between residential areas and nighttime economies. Over 30 to 40 cities worldwide have implemented similar roles. According to Amsterdam's experience, after three years, public complaints about nighttime activities dropped by 40%, and crime rates decreased. 'The key is maintaining order,' he emphasized.
