Chen Hsing-yu, daughter of former President Chen Shui-bian, publicly accused her ex-husband Chao Chien-ming of emotional cruelty toward his family and pursuing a nurse at his clinic during her 50th birthday. It was recently revealed that a clinic property worth NT$60 million was financed through a mortgage under Chen's name and later gifted to Chao. However, a physician identifying himself as Chao's friend, Dr. Wang, posted online to refute the claims, stating that Chen did not bear the mortgage burden. He explained that around May 2025, Chao needed to finalize property details in the divorce agreement to avoid financial disputes and borrowed the loan difference from him. Dr. Wang personally accompanied Chao to Mega International Commercial Bank’s Tainan branch to fully repay the loan and retrieved the repayment certificate, which he then handed over to Chen. Dr. Wang invited reporters to verify the matter with Chen Hsing-yu and the Tainan branch of Mega Bank, urging her to honestly disclose whether Chao had settled the clinic loan in May. He also claimed that Chao and Chen officially divorced on July 24 of the same year. In response, Chen Hsing-yu strongly rebutted in an interview with Liberty Times, saying, 'Please stop occupying media space with soap opera drama. The initial whitewashing narrative isn't worth dissecting sentence by sentence because they even got the divorce date of July 24 wrong. Are you sure you know the truth?' According to sources cited in the report, Chen's actual divorce occurred in June 2025. Chen also requested the media to stop surrounding her clinic and instead cover more meaningful news stories.
