Just as Jensen Huang prepares to leverage $500 billion in Wall Street funding to accelerate the construction of global AI infrastructure, David Sacks, technology advisor to the Trump administration, has issued a sharp warning: the greatest risk of this plan may be the simultaneous influx of massive capital into data centers, ultimately resulting in computing overcapacity and spawning a batch of unused 'dark GPUs'.
Sacks is not an ordinary podcast commentator. He served as the first Chief Product Officer and COO of PayPal, and alongside Peter Thiel and Elon Musk, was part of Silicon Valley's famed 'PayPal Mafia.' He later founded the enterprise communication platform Yammer, which was acquired by Microsoft for $1.2 billion in 2012. In 2017, he co-founded the venture capital firm Craft Ventures and was an early investor in tech companies including Facebook, Uber, Airbnb, Palantir, and SpaceX.
