The Ministry of the Interior stated that the Chinese social media app 'Xiaohongshu' poses fraud risks and announced internet domain resolution suspension and access restrictions in December 2025, initially for a one-year period. Minister Liu Shih-fang said today (19th) on the program 'POP Collision News,' during an interview with host Huang Wei-han, that fraud cases related to Xiaohongshu have decreased by 80% and fraud amounts by 55% since the block was implemented. Liu criticized Xiaohongshu's parent company for 'not even bothering to respond' to the ministry's repeated requests regarding fraud incidents in Taiwan.

Liu explained that Xiaohongshu's parent company is based in Shanghai, placing it outside the direct jurisdiction of Taiwan's 'Anti-Fraud Crime Prevention Act.' Despite multiple requests from the ministry for the company to appoint a legal representative in Taiwan to address fraud issues, Xiaohongshu has not responded.

The ministry later used administrative procedures to send registered letters twice via the SEF (Straits Exchange Foundation) to the Shanghai headquarters, after which the blocking measures took effect. Since the implementation, fraud cases linked to Xiaohongshu have dropped by 80%, and the total fraud amount has decreased by 55%.

As the one-year blocking period nears its end, the ministry plans to follow the same procedure and send another letter to the parent company. When host Huang asked, 'If it still doesn't respond, will the block be extended for another year?' Liu replied, 'That would be the only option.' She emphasized that Taiwan's legal basis is solid, and other platforms like LINE have complied by sending representatives to explain.

Liu also urged Xiaohongshu: if it is willing to provide written explanations or send representatives to Taiwan, the ministry welcomes dialogue. 'We are handling this with full procedural justice,' she stated.
