The Miaoli County Government, in collaboration with four central Taiwan municipalities—Taichung City, Changhua County, and Nantou County—conducted a tourism promotion campaign in Singapore from August 4 to August 8. Under the theme "Hundred WAYS Central Taiwan: Discover Hidden Central Taiwan," the delegation advanced its goals through B2B business matchmaking sessions, meetings with local travel agencies, and the signing of Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs), establishing substantial cooperation for deepening tourism access to Singapore.

On August 6, a B2B tourism business matchmaking event was held at Ascott Raffles Place hotel in Singapore’s Raffles Place. The event drew an enthusiastic response, with 16 local travel agencies and 3 airlines participating. Representatives included Miaoli County Cultural Affairs and Tourism Bureau Director Lin Yan-Fu, Changhua County Urban Landscape Office Deputy Director Lin Feng-Xiang, Taichung City Government Tourism Bureau Chief Secretary Liao Wei-Zhi, and Nantou County Government Tourism Division Section Chief Lin Jian-Hong, who led over 30 industry representatives from central Taiwan in direct business negotiations with their Singaporean counterparts. More than 100 industry professionals engaged in lively exchanges throughout the event.

Ambassador Tong Jin-Yuan of the Taipei Representative Office in Singapore and Director Shi Zhi-Zhong of the Tourism Bureau's Singapore Office attended the event. Ambassador Tong noted that in 2024, 447,841 Singaporean tourists visited Taiwan, with numbers exceeding 440,000 for both 2024 and 2025. He emphasized that Singaporean travelers’ preferences are shifting from visiting famous landmarks to seeking deeper cultural experiences, offering new directions for central Taiwan’s tour design. Additionally, CEOs from China Airlines, Starlux Airlines, and EVA Air attended, expressing hopes to increase direct flights between central Taiwan and Singapore.

On August 7, You Zhi-Yong, President of the Miaoli County Tourism Association, representing the 'Hundred WAYS Central Taiwan' four-county tourism brand alliance, signed MOUs on tourism cooperation with CTC Travel (Da Tong Travel)—a recipient of the Tourism Administration’s Taiwan Contribution Award—and Nam Ho Travel. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Ambassador Tong, Director Shi, Director Lin Yan-Fu, Deputy Director Lin Feng-Xiang, Chief Secretary Liao Wei-Zhi, and Section Chief Lin Jian-Hong.

The MOUs center on expanding collaboration between central Taiwan and Singaporean travel agencies, covering deeper bilateral tourism exchanges, co-packaging themed travel products, and enhanced marketing promotion. Both CTC Travel and Nam Ho Travel are major outbound travel operators in Singapore with long-standing experience in Taiwan tours. Moving forward, they will use the MOUs as a framework to jointly plan and launch themed itineraries across the four counties.

At the upcoming NATAS Travel Fair in August—the largest travel exhibition in Singapore—four core themed tour packages will be promoted: Miaoli’s "Blessing Banquet Slow Journey," Taichung’s "Urban Lifestyle Aesthetics," Changhua’s "Railway Ancient Town Gourmet," and Nantou’s "Sustainable Mountain Healing." These will be complemented by over 100 hidden gems across central Taiwan, forming a comprehensive product lineup. Leveraging Miaoli’s years of cultivated distribution networks, these four tours have already partnered with Singapore’s top ten travel agencies and OTA platforms, debuting simultaneously at the NATAS International Travel Fair for immediate booking by local travelers. In addition to group tours, collaborations with platforms like Klook and Trip.com aim to capture the rapidly growing independent traveler (FIT) market.

Particularly notable is the "Blessing Banquet Journey," centered on the cultural heritage of Baishatun Mazu. Actively promoted by Nam Ho Travel, this itinerary combines temple blessings, banquet feasts, and live stage performances, with expectations for early group departures.

During the visit, the 'Hundred WAYS Central Taiwan' team met with China Airlines and Starlux Airlines to advocate for feasible charter flights from central Taiwan to Singapore. They also visited six local travel agencies to establish practical cooperation mechanisms. The four counties will jointly develop exclusive promotional packages for Singaporean tourists, integrating representative attractions, hotels, and leisure farms, along with high-speed rail passes and transportation discounts for foreign visitors, ensuring seamless exploration upon arrival.

Director Lin Yan-Fu of the Cultural Affairs and Tourism Bureau expressed gratitude to Singapore’s tourism industry for its longstanding support of Taiwan tourism and to all partner businesses involved in packaging central Taiwan products. He emphasized that this campaign goes beyond visibility to actual transactional outcomes. The four counties plan to invite Singaporean travel agents to Taiwan for familiarization trips in the fourth quarter of this year, exploring underdeveloped thematic sites in central Taiwan. With the 2027 Taiwan Lantern Festival set to be hosted in Miaoli, the Q4 inspection tour will include festival highlights, allowing international visitors to experience the unique atmosphere of faith, lanterns, Hakka villages, and mountain towns during one of Taiwan’s most iconic celebrations.

County Magistrate Chung Dong-Jin stated that the 2026 'Hundred WAYS Central Taiwan' initiative marks a milestone in Miaoli’s sustained efforts in the Singapore market. Tourism is one of Miaoli’s most important soft powers, and the county government will continue to elevate Miaoli onto the global stage. Building on the distribution channels and experience gained from this four-county collaboration, Miaoli will simultaneously advance international strategies in tourism, agricultural product exports, and investment attraction, creating a two-way integration of 'visitor acquisition' and 'local product export,' enabling Miaoli’s culture, agricultural specialties, and industrial strengths to fully enter international markets.
