Taichung City Sets Up 7 New Toy Exchange Stations, Collecting Over 26,000 kg of Toys

Bring your beloved toys to find the next adventure partner! Since its establishment in 2023, Taichung City's toy bank has collected over 26,000 kg of toys. To maximize the value of idle toys, the Social Affairs Bureau has set up 7 toy exchange stations in East District, West District, Xitun District, Beitun District, Dali District, Taiping District, and Shalu District this year, providing a 'one-for-one' exchange service. Families with children under 12 years old are welcome to bring functional and clean toys for exchange, joining the toy-sharing initiative. The 7 toy exchange stations are located at Taichung Park Phase 1 Good Home in East District, Mini Parent-Child Center in West District, Guanan Phase 1 Good Home in Xitun District, Xingguang Dian Dian Social Service Station in Beitun District, Taichung City Children and Youth Welfare Service Center in Dali District, Xinguangli Cultural Health Station in Taiping District, and Taichung City Children's Welfare Service Center in Shalu District. Each station provides 20 to 30 toys, and each child can exchange one toy per visit. The toy bank conducts monthly inventory, replenishment, and updates. The Social Affairs Bureau shares that although the process of collecting toys for the toy bank is not easy, it is sometimes full of surprises. For example, once, when the toy bank's resource car went out to refuel, the gas station manager proactively asked if the toy bank accepts toy recycling, and then donated two large boxes of toy balls, hoping to share with more children. As children grow up, many families have toys in good condition but no longer in use. It would be a waste to throw them away directly. Through toy exchange, not only can toy idleness and waste be reduced, but children can also be cultivated to cherish toys. The Social Affairs Bureau states that in the future, it will continue to integrate community resources and gradually expand the toy exchange stations, inviting parent-child families to jointly create a child-friendly and sustainable living environment.
