Classic songs echoed through the Yonghe night sky. The 2026 Midsummer Night's Dream, a major annual event in Yonghe District, New Taipei City, celebrated its 30th anniversary on the evening of August 15th. Yang Pei-An, Yeh Chieh-Ling, Wong Li-Yu, Yu Tai-Yen, and Shen Wen-Cheng performed, attracting nearly 1,000 spectators both inside and outside the venue. The familiar melodies carried from the stage to the outdoor broadcast area, creating the event's climax.

The opening was electrifying with powerful high notes. Yang Pei-An, known as the 'Iron Lung Prince,' ignited the crowd with 'My Future Is Not a Dream,' awakening audience members' youthful memories with his explosive vocals. Yeh Chieh-Ling followed with 'My Heart Is Closed,' while Yu Tai-Yen performed 'Makeup Ball.' As soon as the classic songs began, the audience hummed along.

Gold Song King Wong Li-Yu sang the Hokkien classic 'I Ask the Sky,' earning enthusiastic applause with his heartfelt voice. Songs from different generations and genres appeared one after another, allowing both young audiences and veteran fans to find familiar melodies. The scene resembled a large cross-generational reunion.

The second half of the concert was full of surprises. Former Minister of the Interior Lee Hong-Yuan suddenly appeared on stage, performing classic folk songs and Western oldies with guitarist Yu Guan-Hua's accompaniment. Lee Hong-Yuan rarely showcased his stage charisma, delighting the audience.

Yonghe District Mayor Chou Ching-Chen stated that the Midsummer Night's Dream has been a highly anticipated annual arts and culture event for Yonghe residents for 30 years. This year, all four themed events were packed, thanking the city government, local temples, and businesses for their support. She emphasized that music has become a vital force in uniting the community.

Shen Wen-Cheng closed the show, heating up the atmosphere with 'Wandering Seven Peaches' and performing 'Set Out Again' as a special 30th-anniversary addition. As the powerful melody played, nearly 1,000 spectators inside and outside the venue sang in unison, pushing the event's atmosphere to its peak.

From Folk Song Night, Children's Night, World Music, to Gold Song Night, the 2026 Midsummer Night's Dream concluded with music. The Yonghe District Office and citizens agreed to meet again next summer in Yonghe, using music to continue the shared memories of this city.
