Did Lai Qingde Dream of Relocating Legislature and Executive Yuan to Taichung? Premier Cho Clarifies: No Such Dream

President Lai Qingde recently stated during an event that he had a dream of relocating Taiwan's Legislative Yuan and Executive Yuan to Taichung. In response, Premier Cho Jung-tai stated today (24), 'The president does not have this dream.' He explained that the idea originated from a proposal mentioned by the event's host, referencing past advocacy for such a move. Regarding 'Balanced Taiwan,' the government has numerous plans for Taichung, but currently, there is no mention or discussion of relocating any government agencies. Cho emphasized that the government has plans for Zhongxing New Village, Taichung Airport, and Taichung's Precision Smart New Core, including various industries such as optics, smart agriculture, and science parks. The goal is to strengthen industries and enable smart applications across all sectors, which represents the concrete realization of Balanced Taiwan today. Yesterday (23), Cho also stated that the government's top priority for central Taiwan is advancing a more long-term and comprehensive revitalization plan for Zhongxing New Village. However, there has been no direct discussion about relocating administrative agencies. The focus remains on revitalizing and better utilizing Zhongxing New Village itself, including collaborations with National Chung Hsing University, local industries, cultural initiatives, and renovations of existing buildings, without discussing the relocation of any agencies.
