Typhoon Soudelor is approaching northern Taiwan, causing heavy rains across regions. However, its intensity continues to weaken and it has now been downgraded from a strong typhoon to a moderate one. According to the latest potential track forecast from the Central Weather Administration, Taiwan's main island is no longer within the typhoon's path error range. The weather-focused fan page 'Taiwan Typhoon Forum | Weather Emergency' also noted that the northward adjustment of Soudelor's track has reduced the probability of a direct hit on Taiwan. It predicts that after this typhoon passes, normal summer conditions will gradually return, saying, 'Get ready to say goodbye to a rainy August.'

The Taiwan Typhoon Forum stated that the latest morning forecast clearly shows the typhoon's predicted path has shifted significantly northward. Combined with the expectation that the typhoon will continue weakening as it approaches, this further reduces the likelihood of Soudelor making landfall in Taiwan.

Currently, the typhoon is expected to be closest to Taiwan from Thursday to Friday (27th to 28th). The actual wind and rain intensity across regions will depend on how far south the path shifts. However, based on this morning's forecast, aside from the Kinmen and Matsu (Jinma) areas, Taiwan's impact will primarily come from outer circulation.

Initial assessments of regional impacts are as follows:

- Kinmen and Matsu (Jinma) areas: Beware of strong winds and torrential rains from the typhoon's core. - Northern Taiwan: Intermittent showers and gusty winds, with strong coastal winds. - Mountainous areas across Taiwan: Expect heavier rainfall. - Taiwan Strait (including Penghu): Very rough seas and high waves. - No southwest airflow is expected to develop. Southern Taiwan will still see rain over the weekend, but less intense than in recent days.
