What to Do Before the Outage: Store Water at Least 6 Hours in Advance and Turn Off Pumps to Prevent Dry-Running

The Taiwan Water Corporation recommends that affected users complete water storage at least 6 hours before the outage begins to avoid sudden drops in water pressure caused by mass water storage just before the outage. Additionally, residents must turn off the power to their water pumps during the outage to prevent equipment damage from prolonged dry-running, which could lead to overheating and even fire hazards.

What to Do After Water Supply Resumes: Open Faucets to Release Air and Restore Water Pressure

After the work is completed and water supply resumes, residents are advised to open all faucets in their homes to release trapped air, helping water flow and pipeline pressure stabilize faster. The Taiwan Water Corporation particularly reminds users that due to differences in terrain and pipeline layout, households located at the end of pipelines, on higher floors, or at higher elevations may experience slower water pressure recovery and may need to wait longer.
