Chiang Wan-an, Mayor of Taipei, confirmed that his eldest son, Chiang Te-li, who was admitted to Jian Guo High School this year, has taken a one-year leave of absence to participate in a year-long exchange student program in the United States. Chiang Wan-an personally confirmed the news on the afternoon of the 31st before attending a session at the Taipei City Council, revealing that the decision was made by his son to explore personal interests, gain diverse life experiences, and broaden his international horizons. He stated that both he and his wife respect their son's choice and fully support this decision.

After graduating from the junior high division of National Taiwan Normal University Affiliated High School, Chiang Te-li was admitted to Jian Guo High School. Chiang Wan-an had previously confirmed this publicly to the media and expressed his blessings and expectations for his son. In June, Chiang Wan-an attended the Mayor's Award ceremony, where Chiang Te-li was one of the awardees. As mayor, Chiang personally presented the award to his son, drawing public attention to their interaction on stage.

However, according to publicly available data from the Taipei City Department of Education, Chiang Te-li is participating in the department's International Student Exchange Internship Program, which allows students to experience cultural and educational life in the United States and Canada. Participants must take a one-year leave of absence and return to Taiwan to continue their high school education. Photos provided by the Department of Education show Chiang Te-li wearing a gray Nike top.

In response, Chiang Wan-an confirmed to reporters that this was his son's own decision, stating, 'This is our child's personal choice. He hopes to spend a year as an exchange student to further explore his interests and broaden his international perspective. My wife and I respect this and fully support it.'
