Winbond Plunged but Not on Sell List! Three Major Institutions Bought 76,000 Shares of Powerchip, While Dumping These Electronics Stocks

Taiwan's stock market saw the release of daily trading data from three major institutional investors today (31st), revealing strong signs of capital rotation across individual stocks. Powerchip Technology (6770) topped the buy list with a massive 76,000-share purchase by the three institutions, while AU Optronics (2409) also gained over 41,000 shares in net buying. Buying interest expanded into financial and petrochemical sectors, with five financial stocks—Taiwan Shin Kong Financial, Cathay Financial, Taipei Fubon Bank, First Financial Holding, and Yuanta Financial—appearing in the top 10 net buyers. Formosa Plastics and Formosa Chemicals also received institutional upgrades.

Conversely, the sell list was dominated by electronics stocks. Yageo (2327), Innolux (3481), King Yuan Electronics (2449), ASE Holding (3711), JSP (3189), and UMC (2303) were all adjusted downward, indicating that institutions are not exiting the Taiwan market entirely but rotating capital out of certain tech stocks into lower-tier electronics, financials, and traditional industries.

Among large-cap stocks, institutional buying focused on financial and traditional sectors. First Financial Holding (2892) led with 27,192 shares bought, followed closely by Formosa Plastics (1301) with 26,085 shares. On the sell side, major tech stocks faced heavier pressure. ASE Holding (3711) was the most heavily sold with 11,036 shares, while UMC (2303) and TSMC (2330) were sold down by 7,502 and 5,709 shares respectively.

In the ETF market, Yuanta Taiwan Top 50 Inverse (00632R) topped the buy list with 63,167 shares purchased. In contrast, Fubon Taiwan High Dividend (00406A) was the most heavily sold ETF, with 283,919 shares offloaded.
