Recalling Experience Working with Female Site Managers, Lee Shu-hua Praises Their Professionalism

New Taipei mayoral candidate Lee Shu-hua attended the joint meeting of the New Taipei City Businesswomen's Association today (4th), where he was warmly welcomed by Chairperson Hung Li and other attendees. In his speech, he expressed gratitude to women for being the strong backbone of families and various industries. He shared that throughout his 40-year public service career, many outstanding supervisors and project leads he worked with were women. Particularly during the development of Taipei Arena and the underground passage beneath Songshan Airport, two of the site managers were women who demonstrated exceptional professionalism and meticulousness, delivering engineering quality that was evident to all.

Lee recalled that when he served as Chief Engineer at Taipei City's Public Works Bureau, he participated in advancing the construction of Taipei Arena, completing the project within just three and a half years alongside his team. One female site manager stood out for her professionalism, attention to detail, and guaranteed work quality, making her an essential team member. Additionally, during the construction of the underground tunnel crossing Songshan Airport, another female colleague served as site manager, using her high level of expertise to successfully complete the challenging project. Lee emphasized that throughout his decades-long public service, the professionalism and outstanding performance of many female colleagues have deeply impressed and inspired him.

Lee stated that women are key pillars in every family and across all industries. He has already proposed a pro-natal policy centered on four pillars—"Peace of Mind Check, Peace of Mind Pregnancy, Peace of Mind Raising, Peace of Mind Childbirth"—to create a more supportive environment for pregnancy and childbirth. He also plans to promote policies such as establishing public daycare centers in every school and offering floor-area ratio incentives to encourage businesses to set up childcare facilities, enabling young parents to access nearby childcare services. From pre-pregnancy care to postnatal parenting, he aims to be the strongest support system for women and families in New Taipei.

Regarding New Taipei’s future development, Lee reaffirmed plans to construct the “Hulusha Bridge,” integrating rail transit and road networks to connect AI high-tech industries like NVIDIA—set to enter Beitou Tech Park—to areas such as Wugu, Luzhou, Tucheng, Shulin, and Xindian, forming a dual-city AI technology corridor across New Taipei and Taipei. Furthermore, he outlined a vision of "a Dome City in the South, a Science City in the North," leveraging two core hubs to drive overall growth in New Taipei and generate more local employment opportunities. City councilors Huang Hsin-hua and Liu Che-chang also attended today’s event.

This afternoon, Lee was invited to attend the Taiwan Smart Mobility Industry Association’s annual meeting. During the event, he shared that during his tenure as Deputy Mayor of Taipei City, he led a team to Dubai to bid for hosting the "2029 Intelligent Transport Systems World Congress (ITS World Congress)." After intense international competition, they successfully secured this prestigious global event for Taiwan. Lee emphasized that he will apply this experience in intelligent transportation and urban governance to future municipal policies in New Taipei, continuing to collaborate with the industry to promote electric mobility and green environmental policies, jointly addressing climate change and accelerating the transformation and development of smart transportation in New Taipei City.
