Golden Horse Award-winning actor Chen Songyong was cared for in his later years by Indonesian caregiver Yuliana (Yuli), with whom he shared a close relationship. After Chen passed away in December 2021, Yuli inherited approximately 4 million New Taiwan dollars (NTD) according to his will and subsequent estate arrangements, returning to Indonesia in 2022. However, recent online rumors claimed that Yuli had spent all of Chen’s inheritance within a year and was forced to return to Taiwan to work as a caregiver. In response, the Taiwan Fact-Checking Center released an investigation report clarifying the situation. Verified information shows that Yuli is still operating a grocery store in Indonesia and has not returned to Taiwan for caregiving work. Regarding the inheritance amount, Yuli stated that while Chen initially verbally promised her 2 million NTD, the official will specified 4 million NTD. She denied spending all the money, explaining that she has been saving in gold, which she considers more valuable and easier to liquidate than land. She also revealed that Chen had given her gold multiple times during his lifetime, all of which she has preserved. Yuli expressed distress over the false reports, noting that translated versions of Taiwanese media articles have circulated in Indonesian online media and among migrant worker communities in Taiwan, causing confusion. The rumor appears to have originated from Hong Kong-based migrant worker influencer Miss Yuni, who shared in a livestream that she received 2 million NTD (approximately 1 billion Indonesian rupiah) from a former employer but spent it due to poor financial management and home renovations, leading her to return to Taiwan for work. This story was edited and misattributed to Yuli. Miss Yuni has since clarified that she is not Yuli and that their circumstances differ significantly, urging the public to stop misidentifying her.
