Amid the rapid evolution of AI technologies and enterprise applications, the Taipei Computer Association (TCA) recently held the 'Hybrid AI Workshop – Building Enterprise Hybrid AI Application Hands-on Workshop' at the Political University Public Enterprise Center. The event invited Ethan Huang (13), a leader from the Apple developer community, and Edward Chuang, AI Developer Relations Engineer from Google Cloud, to co-teach. By connecting local developer communities with international tech resources, the workshop guided industry partners through hands-on practice to explore the application potential of cloud and on-device AI collaboration.

As the government actively promotes the 'AI New Ten Major Construction' initiative to accelerate intelligent applications across industries, enterprises are no longer debating whether to adopt AI, but how to implement it effectively. With increasingly diverse models, tools, computing environments, and application methods, businesses must balance performance, cost, data privacy, operational requirements, and real-world scenarios to identify the optimal technology stack for their needs.

TCA therefore positioned Hybrid AI as the core theme of this workshop, aiming to help industries develop the judgment to balance cloud agility with on-premise autonomy—ensuring AI moves beyond conceptual demonstrations and gradually integrates into daily business operations.

Participants explored Hybrid AI applications through group-based hands-on exercises. Unlike typical AI seminars focused on trend sharing or case studies, this workshop emphasized practical implementation over three days, featuring instructor demonstrations, participant exercises, group discussions, and outcome presentations. Rather than cramming numerous tools into a short timeframe, the curriculum allowed participants to personally experience need assessment, solution selection, process validation, and iterative adjustments—gaining firsthand insight into what the technology can achieve, its limitations, and key considerations for enterprise deployment.

Wu Yun-Jie, TCA representative, stated in her opening remarks: 'AI won’t magically run on its own just because we’re sitting attentively in the audience. We need to get hands-on, experiment, and troubleshoot to truly understand what the technology can do and where the pitfalls lie.' She emphasized that TCA hopes participants will take away at least one valuable outcome—a new development method, a sustainable workflow, or an unexpected application idea—that can be practically applied in their work.

This tripartite collaboration showcased complementary strengths: TCA brought industry needs and resource integration, the iOS developer leader contributed years of local development and practical AI experience, and Google Cloud shared insights on cloud-based AI development and cost governance. Through the convergence of diverse professional perspectives, participants gained a deeper understanding of the trade-offs between on-device processing, cloud services, and development efficiency, enabling them to build Hybrid AI application strategies closely aligned with real enterprise needs.

The three-day Hybrid AI Workshop concluded successfully, with Google Cloud instructors and all participants commemorating the event with a group photo. As AI technology evolves rapidly, industries need more than just information—they require safe, supportive environments to experiment, validate, and exchange experiences. Moving forward, TCA will continue monitoring industry trends and enterprise needs, actively securing government and cross-sector resources to design more engaging, practical, and interactive programs. By lowering the barriers to accessing and prototyping new technologies, TCA aims to support industries in accelerating AI adoption and digital transformation.
