Taiwan Raises Minimum Wage for 11th Consecutive Year! 8-Hour Review Results in 'Monthly Salary Exceeds 30,000' and Hourly Wage at 205

The minimum basic wage has already been raised for 10 consecutive years, and President Lai Ching-te and Premier Chen Chien-jen have repeatedly guaranteed that the minimum basic wage will be raised again in 2027 and will definitely exceed 30,000 NTD. The Ministry of Labor held a minimum wage review committee meeting today (24th) to discuss whether to adjust the minimum wage and the extent of the adjustment. According to reports, after nearly 8 hours of deliberation, it was decided that starting January 1, 2027, the monthly minimum wage will be adjusted to 30,900 NTD (a 4.475% increase), and the hourly minimum wage will be adjusted to 205 NTD. Minister of Labor Hong Shen-han is expected to hold a press conference at 18:15 tonight to announce the review results. The current minimum wage is 29,500 NTD per month and 196 NTD per hour. According to Article 10 of the Minimum Wage Act, the Minimum Wage Review Committee should be held every third quarter of the year; Article 9 also stipulates that when reviewing the minimum wage, the annual increase rate of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) should be adopted, and other indicators such as labor productivity, average wages, national economic development, national income, GDP, living prices, industrial development, and employment status can also be referenced.
