Another Throat-Slashing Incident in New Taipei! 16-Year-Old High School Student Stabbed in Neck by Classmate, Fighting for Life in Hospital

On April 24, 2025, at approximately 4:00 p.m., a student stabbing incident took place in front of a beverage shop on Minsheng Street in Ruifang District, New Taipei City. Several junior and senior high school students got into an argument, which quickly escalated into violence. During the altercation, a 16-year-old boy was stabbed in the neck by a peer using scissors, sustaining severe injuries and collapsing immediately. As a result, he lost both breathing and heartbeat, entering a life-threatening condition.

The injured teenager was then urgently transported to Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in Keelung, where he remains in critical condition and continues to fight for his life. During the physical struggle, the 16-year-old victim’s neck was violently stabbed by a 14-year-old junior high student named Hsu, who wielded a pair of scissors. The boy collapsed instantly, unconscious and unresponsive.

Emergency responders arrived swiftly after the call. Upon arrival, paramedics found the 16-year-old with no breath or pulse, indicating clinical death. Immediate CPR was initiated on-site, followed by rapid transport to Keelung Chang Gung Hospital. At the time of transfer, the patient was in OHCA (Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest) status—a dire prognosis. While he remains under intensive care, his precise injuries and survival outlook await official confirmation from the hospital.

How did two individuals with no prior connection end up in such a deadly confrontation?

Police investigations reveal that the 14-year-old suspect, surnamed Hsu, and the 17-year-old victim were complete strangers before the incident. On the day of the event, they encountered each other on Minsheng Street in Ruifang District and became embroiled in a verbal dispute. In a fit of rage, Hsu grabbed a sharp pair of scissors from a nearby merchant’s stall and plunged it directly into the other student’s neck. The high schooler suffered a fatal penetrating wound, collapsed on the spot, and lost all vital signs immediately.

After committing the serious crime, Hsu did not flee. Instead, he immediately called the police, confessed to stabbing another person, and expressed his intention to surrender. The juvenile suspect later voluntarily reported to a local police station.
