DPP Expels 18 Members at Once! Central Evaluation Committee Imposes Heavy Penalties – Chiu Chien-fu and Huang Shu-mei Removed for Violating Party Discipline

The Central Evaluation Committee of the Democratic Progressive Party convened a meeting yesterday (23rd) to conduct a rigorous review of违纪 candidacy cases in the 2026 county mayoral and special municipality councilor elections. Based on the party's public office nomination regulations and related party discipline rules, the committee held extensive discussions and ultimately decided to impose severe penalties on违纪 members, expelling a total of 18 individuals, including former Changhua Mayor Chiu Chien-fu and Kaohsiung City Councilor Huang Shu-mei.

The committee emphasized that running for office after leaving the party is considered a违纪 act, and thus disciplinary actions were enforced. The Central Evaluation Committee stated that this meeting comprehensively reviewed违纪 candidacy incidents in the 2026 county mayoral and special municipality councilor elections. According to Article 9 of the party's public office nomination regulations, any candidacy after party resignation is deemed违纪, and penalties were imposed in accordance with Article 12 of the Disciplinary Evaluation and Adjudication Regulations regarding违纪 candidacy. After thorough deliberation by all committee members, the decision to impose strict disciplinary measures was finalized.

The list of expelled members includes Chiu Chien-fu, Chi Chien-han, Chen Yi-chun, Chen Chih-ying, Chien Li-hua, Lien Yu-sung, Lin Chi-ming, Liu Sheng-chuan, Kuo Li-hua, Huang Ying-chi, Tseng Ting-chun, Lin Yu-mei, Chang Hsin-hu, Shih Chao-ching, Hsieh Ping-chou, Li Chen-hao, Hsueh Chao-chi, and Huang Shu-mei, totaling 18 members.

Additionally, the Central Evaluation Committee clarified that Chu Cheng-chi, who was involved in a case related to Chinese espionage, had already been formally expelled on May 13th of this year, as his actions severely damaged the DPP's reputation.
