Shukurei Co., Ltd. (President and CEO: Ryoichi Sakamoto; Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo) will launch the shaved ice dessert 'Kasumi (Kasumi)' for a limited time starting Tuesday, July 21, 2026, from its Omotesando flagship store of FRANÇAIS, a Western confectionery brand that celebrates 'fruits' and 'nuts'.

Launched this summer, FRANÇAIS's shaved ice series emphasizes layered flavors, much like its signature 'Mille-feuille,' staying true to the brand's theme of enjoying fruit. Following 'Momoka,' which featured peaches, the new product 'Kasumi' stars the radiant Shine Muscat grape.

Delicate, fluffy shaved ice is layered with blueberry sauce and topped with juicy, sweet Shine Muscat grapes. A smooth cream made with Hokkaido fresh cream and mascarpone adds richness with a light mouthfeel. Hidden within the ice are two types of ice cream—muscat and cream cheese—offering evolving flavor experiences with every bite.

How about enjoying this uniquely layered shaved ice, crafted in the refreshing café space of Omotesando, reminiscent of the brand’s beloved Mille-feuille?

Brand Logo & Story

'FRANÇAIS'

Western Confectionery FRANÇAIS

Founded shortly after WWII as a confectionery shop in Shibuya, FRANÇAIS has been supported by many customers. Its signature Mille-feuille has been cherished by children and adults alike for decades.

From the classic Mille-feuille to all confections, the brand is committed to ingredients and craftsmanship, pursuing true deliciousness. Every layer of puff pastry, fruit texture, and nut aroma is carefully crafted to create genuinely delicious sweets.

History of FRANÇAIS

FRANÇAIS was founded in December 1957 in Shibuya by Jiro Takai, driven by a passion to introduce French confectionery culture to Japan. Its roots trace back to his days at Aoyama Gakuin, where he spent time with painter Seiki Togo, who had strong ties to France.

At the time, the brand launched innovative products like 'Brandy Cake' using premium brandy and 'Honey Citron' based on lemons, contributing to the growth of Japan’s Western confectionery culture through French-style desserts.

In 1997, after relocating its base to Yokohama, FRANÇAIS invited Jean Mee, an MOF (Meilleur Ouvrier de France), and opened a storefront in Motomachi, Yokohama. It also promoted French gastronomy by opening French restaurants alongside confectionery shops.
