Suma Universal Beach Project, an NPO promoting barrier-free beaches, will hold the Kaizuka Universal Beach Experience at Nishikinohama Bathing Beach in Kaizuka, Osaka on July 18, 2026, from 10:00 to 15:00. Nishikinohama obtained Blue Flag international certification in 2024, thanks to community efforts that successfully cleaned local water. This free event aims to make the beach accessible and enjoyable for everyone through the installation of specialized beach mats and amphibious wheelchairs. Registration is open for approximately eight groups of individuals with disabilities and their families. The event is co-organized by the Nishikinohama Attraction Promotion Council and the Kaizuka Brand Promotion Association, with additional local support. It will proceed in rain but will be canceled in case of stormy weather. Established in 2017, the organizing NPO has received multiple awards, including second place globally for the Blue Flag Best Practice Award, and its initiatives are featured in middle school textbooks to showcase SDGs in action. Interested participants can register online via the provided Google Form.
