Mitsui O.S.K. Passenger Ferry Co., Ltd. (Representative Director: Hirotoshi Usuokoshi), in collaboration with Hisatsu Orange Railway Co., Ltd., has set up a special collaboration plan for July and September 2026, allowing participants to easily enjoy the charms of both sea and rail travel with "food" as the theme. This plan will be sold as a travel product organized by our group company, Sunflower Travel Co., Ltd.
This collaborative project combines the features of our ferries, where you can relax and enjoy your meal while traveling to Kyushu, with the "Orange Dining" tourist train, where you can experience local cuisine and hospitality while enjoying the spectacular scenery along the west coast of Kyushu.
On this tour, the "Orange Dining" tourist train will be chartered for the Shin-Yatsushiro to Izumi section, allowing you to spend a relaxing time. In addition to the train's signature "Marche" as a souvenir, we will also offer original merchandise exclusive to this project. Furthermore, for those interested, a tour of the "Hisatsu Orange Railway Izumi Rolling Stock Depot" will be available, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the railway from areas not normally accessible. The tour is scheduled for one departure each in July 2026 (departing from Kobe) and September 2026 (departing from Osaka), designed to be accessible to participants from a wide range of regions.
The Hisatsu Orange Railway runs along the west coast of Kyushu, offering spectacular views of the Amakusa Islands from the Yatsushiro Sea (Chirihama Sea), as well as scenic vistas unique to a local line with its string of coastal villages. The line also features many points of interest, such as peculiar rock formations called Jūban-iwa and the "Sakaibashi" stone bridge, built during the Meiji era at the border of Satsuma and Higo provinces. Through riding the "Orange Dining" tourist train on this project, you can experience the charm of these local areas along with local produce.
Sunflower Ferry will continue to work with the communities it serves, proposing new travel experiences that combine rail and sea routes to attract visitors to the central and southern Kyushu areas and promote the region's appeal.
*Tour reservations will begin on June 10, 2026 (Wednesday) through Sunflower Travel Co., Ltd.
