Sustainable Food Asia Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Satoshi Unno; hereinafter SFA) held the Asian sustainable food co-creation event 'Sustainable Food Camp 2026' (hereinafter SFC 2026) for the 4th time this year at 'Resorts World Awana' in Genting Highlands, Malaysia, on Tuesday, April 14, 2026.
SFC is held with the purpose of going beyond a mere conference to create practical business projects across borders and industry boundaries.
On April 13, a pre-tour was held for those interested to learn about cutting-edge FoodTech. On April 14, a total of 143 people from 74 companies, including global corporations, startups, researchers, investors, and government officials from 8 countries and regions—including Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, Thailand, Taiwan, and Hong Kong—gathered under one roof.
At SFC 2026, under the theme 'Co-creation For The Future Food Ecosystem', various programs were implemented to explore ways to solve issues related to 'Health Access', 'Environmental Improvement', and 'Social Responsibility' through food.
At the opening ceremony, H.E. Mr. Katsuhiko Takahashi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Malaysia, who supported the purpose of the event following the previous one, gave a greeting. He said, 'Malaysia, where Halal and sustainability merge, is an important partner for joint innovation for Japan. In the face of mounting challenges, I hope this camp will generate co-creation that impacts the world with the BOF spirit of "Be Bold," "Be Open," and "Be Fast".'
In the business pitch in the latter half of the event, 4 teams received the Corporate Award (prize money of USD 1,000 each) granted by main partners as the Sustainability Challenge Fund. This pitch does not conclude within SFC alone; from here, it is scheduled to move into a concrete examination phase towards the realization of each project.
SFA will continue to break down national and industry barriers and provide a place where innovation accelerates, aiming to elevate sustainable food into an essential infrastructure that supports the next-generation society, rather than letting it end as a temporary fad.
