Tokyo, Japan — May 25, 2026 — Synology today announced a strategic restructuring of its C2 cloud ecosystem, centered on the release of C2 OneStorage. This new approach optimizes organizational resource management, allowing cloud investments to adapt dynamically to shifting deployment priorities.

"Our goal is to provide a seamless hybrid cloud foundation that evolves with our customers' needs," said Bie-I Chu, Executive Vice President at Synology. "By integrating C2 services, we eliminate management complexity, enabling organizations to focus resources on core business operations and long-term infrastructure flexibility."

C2 OneStorage Consolidates Storage Subscriptions

The new C2 OneStorage integrates C2 Storage for Hyper Backup and Hybrid Share, along with C2 Object Storage, into a single, efficient subscription. This transition eliminates the need for separate plans, allowing organizations to dynamically allocate cloud capacity across multiple solutions to maximize resource utilization.

Strategic Review and Portfolio Restructuring

To ensure customers can focus on their most critical infrastructure challenges, Synology is restructuring its C2 portfolio, shifting towards a policy that prioritizes hybrid cloud and mission-critical business workloads.

Under this strategic pivot, C2 Identity and Active Insight will focus on enterprise-grade access management and operational visibility. Consequently, the freemium tiers for these services will no longer be available for new registrations and will be phased out for existing users.

Furthermore, C2 Transfer and C2 Password will move to End-of-Life (EoL) status. New subscriptions will not be accepted, and existing services will remain available for the remainder of the subscription term.

Total Visibility with New Synology Account

The newly redesigned Synology Account will function as the central hub of the C2 ecosystem. This portal provides administrators with a comprehensive view of Synology resources, enabling centralized management of system and package licenses, active devices, services, and partner relationships.

While the new interface enhances operational monitoring, current subscription workflows will remain intact to ensure a smooth transition without interrupting active services.

Availability

The aforementioned strategic updates and service migrations will officially take effect on June 22, 2026. This includes the global rollout of Synology C2 OneStorage and the redesigned Synology Account portal.

In line with these strategic updates, Synology will introduce a new pricing model reflecting the integrated value of the C2 ecosystem. Existing users will receive direct notifications detailing transition policies and support, ensuring a seamless experience for all affected C2 services.
