Synology Releases DiskStation Manager 7.4

Tokyo, Japan — June 18, 2026 — Synology today announced the release of DiskStation Manager (DSM) 7.4, introducing DSM Agent, Synology ChatPlus and Meet, and post-process deduplication and compression on Synology HDD-based volumes.

Simplifying System Management with AI

DSM 7.4 introduces DSM Agent, an embedded AI advisor that provides contextual recommendations and guidance directly within the operating system interface, lowering the barrier to advanced configuration and proactive system management.

Future updates to DSM Agent 2.0 will expand support for agent-based workflows, enabling users to monitor system health, verify backups, edit documents, and automate complex tasks across the Synology ecosystem using natural language commands.

Smarter Collaboration with Full Data Privacy

DSM 7.4 also launches the open beta of Synology ChatPlus and Meet—enterprise-grade communication tools featuring granular permission controls, full on-premises deployment, and AI-powered real-time translation. These tools enable multinational teams to collaborate seamlessly while maintaining complete data privacy.

Synology Drive now includes AI Search for GPU-enabled systems, allowing users to search files using natural language descriptions. On-device embedded models enable content recognition not only in text but also in images and documents.

Optimized Storage Efficiency

New storage efficiency features for HDD-based volumes¹ now support post-process deduplication and compression, significantly reducing storage consumption. Flexible scheduling and management options allow data reduction tasks to run without impacting system performance.
