In 2026, marking the 60th anniversary of the Beatles' visit to Japan, photographer and writer Shimpei Asai reflects on the "Showa" era from the 1960s to the 1990s through a collection of photographs and essays.

Mr. Asai made his professional debut in 1966, the year of the Beatles' first visit to Japan, with the photobook "Beatles Tokyo: 100 Hours of Romance." For the past 60 years, he has continued to capture the breath of the times, photographing music, culture, cities, and people with his unique sensitivity.
