Nihonbashi Takashimaya S.C. will hold the 'Tetsuko's Room 50th Anniversary Exhibition ~With Love~' from July 29, 2026 (Wed).

'Tetsuko's Room,' which started in 1976, celebrated its 50th anniversary in February 2026. This program, symbolizing Tetsuko Kuroyanagi, has woven irreplaceable moments of dialogue by carefully listening to the lives and thoughts of each guest. The encounters with guests full of individuality, who have colored the times, have delivered countless surprises and emotions to living rooms all over Japan, along with warm aftertastes.

This exhibition, with the concept of 'With Love,' unravels the 50-year journey of 'Tetsuko's Room,' focusing on the 'connections between people' that have been cherished for many years. Through famous scenes and valuable materials from the program, we introduce the trajectory of dialogue woven by Tetsuko Kuroyanagi and the kindness and consideration that flow within it.

In a refined space, visitors can slowly enjoy special stories as if they were guests of 'Tetsuko's Room.'

In addition, collaboration products with <Aoyama Decalbo> and original goods for this exhibition will also be sold at the venue.

In 1984, Tetsuko was appointed as the fourth UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador in the world and the first in Asia, and in 2024, she celebrated her 40th anniversary of her appointment.

Hello. Thanks to everyone, 'Tetsuko's Room' has turned 50 this year.

When I started the program, I never thought it would continue for so long. This is all thanks to the many guests who appeared on the show and everyone who watched the program. I would like to express my gratitude here.

Through this program, I have been able to talk to so many people. Every time, guests share wonderful stories, so I have been able to have enjoyable conversations with a fresh feeling every time. I hope that I can continue to share happy and warm times with everyone. 【Tetsuko Kuroyanagi Profile】

Actress and UNICEF (United Nations Children's Fund) Goodwill Ambassador. Born in Nogizaka, Tokyo.

She attended Tomoe Gakuen, then Kouran Girls' School, and graduated from the Vocal Music Department of Tokyo University of the Arts. She joined the NHK Broadcasting Drama Group and became the first exclusive TV actress for NHK. In 1976, she started the talk show 'Tetsuko's Room.' In addition to her appearances on television and radio, she established the social welfare corporation Totto Foundation and has been dedicated to the training of professional deaf actors, theatrical activities, sign language classes, and more. Her book 'Totto-chan: The Little Girl at the Window' is an 8 million-copy bestseller. She is a member of the Japan PEN Club, director of the Chihiro Art Museum (Tokyo, Anunoyo), vice president of the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, and honorary president of the Japan Panda Protection Association. In 2015, she was awarded the Order of Culture.
