Tao Corporation (Location: Kusatsu City, Shiga Prefecture, Representative Director: Yoshiaki Kurosawa), developer of "Tenjin," a tablet educational material that transforms homes into preschools, will add new puzzle content themed around spring and summer to the "Tenjin" tablet version for preschoolers on Tuesday, June 9, 2026.

Learning About the Seasons Safely

Japan has recently experienced prolonged harsh summers and winters, sometimes referred to as "two seasons." In 2025, heatstroke alert advisories were issued a total of 1,749 times, approximately three times the number issued in 2021 when the system began nationwide operation. Children have fewer opportunities than before to experience the seasons firsthand. Nevertheless, we want them to know the richness of Japan's "four seasons." With this in mind, we have been enhancing our content for learning about the seasons.

Four Scenes Added This Time

The new additions are puzzles themed around scenes representing Japanese spring and summer: "Cherry Blossom Viewing," "Spring Foods," "Summer Mountains," and "Tanabata Festival." When a piece is placed in a blank space, explanatory audio about the seasonal event or creature will play. Additionally, there are audio features in the background beyond the puzzle pieces, allowing children to enjoy discovering hidden sounds.

Completion of the "Seasonal Puzzle" Series

"Seasons" is a standard theme in early childhood education. Seasonal events and creatures are also known to be frequent topics in elementary school entrance exams. "Tenjin" has previously included problems suitable for elementary school entrance exams, but we have received many requests to "add content that allows young children to learn about the seasons." Therefore, we have been progressively enhancing the "Seasonal Puzzle" series, which allows for learning through play, and with this latest addition, the series is now complete.

Thoughts Behind the Development

Although it is a tablet-based educational material, we are developing it with the awareness of connecting children's learning to the world outside the screen, such as cherry blossoms during "Ohanami," summer creatures, and Tanabata decorations. We hope that through puzzles, children will experience moments of "I know this!" and naturally develop curiosity about Japan's seasonal events, seasonal foods, and creatures.
