According to a survey by Teikoku Databank, the cumulative number of food and beverage price hikes in 2026 reached 11,157 items as of June 1. This marks the fifth consecutive year that the number has exceeded 10,000 since the survey began. Rising naphtha prices due to the worsening situation in the Middle East have pushed up the costs of packaging materials and films. Price hikes are continuing, primarily in processed foods, and it is estimated that the total could reach 20,000 items for the year.
