"Light Sculpture - Flow" will reopen at "MORI Building DIGITAL ART MUSEUM: EPSON teamLab Borderless" in Azabudai Hills, Tokyo, starting July 8, 2026 (Wed).
To commemorate the reopening, we will unveil new works from two new series, "Asymmetric Existence" and "Chromatic Existence," which will be exhibited in the special exhibition "The Asymmetry of the Universe."
The special exhibition "The Asymmetry of the Universe" will be held from July 8, 2026 (Wed) to October 8, 2026 (Thu).
Asymmetric Existence
Asymmetric Existence is a single sculpture that integrates light sculptures that appear only in real space and are not reflected in mirrors, with light sculptures that appear only within mirrors and do not exist in real space.
Mirrors normally reflect real space symmetrically. However, here, real space and mirror image space are not in a symmetrical relationship. The two light sculptures, appearing asymmetrically in different spaces, emerge as a single sculptural existence within the viewer's perception.
The surface of the mirror is not merely a boundary that symmetrically reflects real space, but a space that connects the existences appearing in real space and mirror image space. Asymmetric Existence is an attempt to extend sculpture from an object confined to real space to an existence that traverses real space and mirror image space, and is integrated within perception.

Chromatic Existence
When colors flow through space and color itself forms an order, a sculpture of color emerges.
The sculptures here are not sculptures as objects, but spatial existences without material boundaries, created by the order of colors.

Light Sculpture - Flow
The inside and outside of a whirlpool in the sea are made of the same water. There is no material difference between them. Yet, why do we perceive the whirlpool as a single existence, and even feel life in it?
What separates the inside and outside of the whirlpool is not a difference in material, but a difference in order. When order emerges within a flow, an existence arises without material differences or boundaries.
In Light Sculpture - Flow, a sculpture appears when a continuous stream of light rays forms an order in space.
The sculptures here are different from sculptures as objects. They arise not by material boundaries, but by flow and order, and are spatial existences without material boundaries that dynamically change, influenced by people's presence and behavior. They are spatial existences whose boundaries with the body are also ambiguous.
Light Sculpture - Flow is an attempt to extend sculpture from a fixed object to a spatial existence without material boundaries, arising from flow and order.
MORI Building DIGITAL ART MUSEUM: EPSON teamLab Borderless
teamLab Borderless is a "museum without a map" by the art collective teamLab, consisting of borderless artworks. Art moves from room to room, influences other artworks, and forms part of a continuous, borderless world. teamLab Borderless is this continuous world of artworks. Visitors enter the world with their bodies, and explore, discover, and learn through immersion in this borderless world.
