Project Overview
This project aims to promote reskilling that leads to improved employment conditions by enabling universities and other institutions to collaborate with local communities and industries to develop and deliver reskilling programs tailored to human resource development needs. It addresses diverse needs, including those of advanced and essential workers, individuals from the 'employment ice age' generation, and workers seeking to utilize AI. The ultimate goal is to build an industry-academia-government-linked reskilling ecosystem.
The Graduate School of Engineering at Osaka University operates an 'Industry on Campus' framework, inviting corporate research organizations into the campus. Under this model, the university, companies, and collaborative research institutes work together to advance research, education, and venture creation as an integrated, co-creative educational model.
This initiative will focus on developing and delivering professional education programs centered on two key areas: Bio-DX fields that support drug discovery, healthcare, and medical innovation, and business design fields that cultivate strategic thinking and entrepreneurial capabilities.

About the 'Industry on Campus-style Reskilling Education Ecosystem Initiative — REACH × Bio-DX × Business Design —'
The Graduate School of Engineering at Osaka University invites corporate research organizations to campus as Collaborative Research Institutes or Joint Research Courses (hereinafter 'Co-Research Institutes'), promoting on-campus industry-academia co-creation activities under the 'Industry on Campus' framework. It has a strong track record in recurrent education for professionals through collaboration with these institutes.
Building on this experience, the initiative will leverage the school's strength in the 'Industry on Campus' model to establish a recurrent education ecosystem through industry-academia co-creation with Co-Research Institutes. Specifically, it will develop and implement educational programs in high-demand fields identified by industry: Bio-DX areas supporting drug discovery, regenerative medicine, gene therapy, healthcare, and bio-based products, and business design areas fostering strategic thinking, planning skills, and entrepreneurship.
Collaborative research institutes involved include the Osaka University-Shimadzu Analytical Innovation Collaborative Research Institute (Shimadzu Corporation), the PERSOL Advanced Bio-DX Industrial Talent Development Collaborative Research Institute (PERSOL TempStaff), and the Panasonic Foundation Collaborative Research Institute (Panasonic Holdings Corporation). Together, these form a three-party ecosystem of 'University,' 'Co-Research Institute,' and 'Company,' advancing professionals' access to university education through strong company-institute collaboration and developing and delivering educational programs through collaboration between university researchers and Co-Research Institutes.
