The show will welcome guests Kocchi no Kento, peco, and Matsuura Yataro, discussing the various ways cooking fosters human connection and kindness.

On Marine Day, July 20, 2026, Tsukaji Takehaya and Takahashi Marie will present the special program 'Kinkatsu Project 2026 Summer: Connecting Hearts Through Mushrooms — supported by Hokto.' Guests include Kocchi no Kento, the artist known for the global hit 'Hai Yorokonde' who recently announced the birth of his first child; peco, a multi-talented entertainer and entrepreneur whose lifestyle as a new mother has drawn public attention; and Matsuura Yataro, former editor-in-chief of 'Kurashi no Techo' and an acclaimed essayist who continues to inspire everyday richness. The trio will share heartfelt stories on what 'kindness' means to them, using cooking as a starting point.

The program is also calling for audience submissions: share your 'memorable dish' — a meal that left a lasting impression, brought joy, or became a cherished memory. Selected contributors will receive five types of Hokto's kinkatsu retort meals and a 3,000 yen gift card. For details, please visit the official program website.

What is Kinkatsu?

'Kinkatsu' refers to 'mushroom activity' — eating mushrooms to nurture inner health and beauty. It's gaining popularity as a lifestyle practice that supports gut health, skin health, muscle maintenance, brain function, fertility, sleep, body warmth, and weight management. In Japanese, 'kin' (菌) is read as 'kinoko' (mushroom) in kun'yomi, and mushrooms are the only edible food that consists purely of fungi. Hence, mushrooms are often called the 'king of microbial ingredients.' Rich in dietary fiber, vitamins, minerals, and amino acids, mushrooms provide essential nutrients ideal for summer wellness, helping to strengthen, beautify, and energize the body.
