Toa Corporation has successfully implemented its 'Anti-Rolling Tank Technology for Floating Caissons' at the Fushiki-Toyama Port construction site in October 2025. This technology, developed through the Innovative Social Capital Development Research and Development Promotion Project, reduces the oscillation of floating caissons during towing, thereby improving construction safety and productivity. Verification after implementation confirmed the expected reduction in oscillation and improvements in construction workflow. In recent years, the construction of breakwaters has increased in Japan to support larger cargo ships and tsunami countermeasures. While towing floating caissons is a common method, wave conditions often cause significant oscillation, posing safety risks. To address this, Toa developed a system using rectangular tanks filled with water placed on the caissons to counteract movement. In this field implementation, tanks made of sheet material, developed in collaboration with Taiyo Kogyo, were used to simplify installation and removal. The results showed a 20% reduction in both ROLL and PITCH. Toa plans to continue accumulating safety records through future project proposals.
