Tokai Rika Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Owari-Ichinomiya, Niwa-gun, Aichi Prefecture; President and CEO: Hiromi Ninoyu) will launch collaborative merchandise from its upcycling brand "THINK SCRAP" with the Nagoya Port Aquarium Museum Shop on July 6 (Mon).

These merchandise items are upcycled products utilizing scrap materials from seatbelts generated at our own factories. For this collaboration, with the theme "Circulation of Resources and Connection of Life," an original collaboration mark expressing the circulation of seatbelts and the circulation of life has been created and is featured on the merchandise.

Through this initiative, both parties will convey the message that cherishing resources leads to protecting future life, contributing to the realization of a sustainable society.

[Background of the Collaboration]

THINK SCRAP operates upcycling activities from the perspective unique to an automotive parts manufacturer, with the concept of "Giving new value to seatbelt scraps that would otherwise be discarded."

For this collaboration, the Nagoya Port Aquarium Museum Shop expressed their desire to "express the circulation of resources and the connection of life."

In response to this sentiment, we created an original collaboration mark depicting a penguin swimming within a circle of seatbelts, representing the circulation of resources.

This mark embodies the cycle of transforming materials that have served their purpose into new value, and the wish for the future of marine life beyond that.

[About the Collaboration Mark]

The circle drawn with seatbelts represents "the circulation of resources."

The penguin swimming within it symbolizes "the circulation of life."

This mark embodies the shared sentiment of Tokai Rika and the Nagoya Port Aquarium Museum Shop that cherishing resources leads to future life.

[Comment from Nagoya Port Aquarium Museum Shop]

Our lives are sustained by the use of many resources.

We believe that utilizing these resources in new forms, rather than discarding them, can be an opportunity to reconsider our impact on the natural environment.

Within natural environments, including the ocean, various forms of life circulate in interconnected ways.

We hope that through this collaborative product, customers will have an opportunity to think about "the circulation of resources" and "the circulation of life."

[About THINK SCRAP]

THINK SCRAP is an upcycling brand developed by Tokai Rika Co., Ltd.

It gives new value to industrial materials that would normally be discarded, including seatbelt scraps generated at our own factories, and regenerates them into everyday products such as bags and accessories.

Our aim is not merely recycling, but to connect the stories and technologies behind the materials to the future.
