Tradition Realized: Glen Scotia 12 Year Old Officially Launched

Toko Co., Ltd., a liquor importer and wholesaler based in Taito-ku, Tokyo, has released the new flagship bottle, 'Glen Scotia 12 Year Old,' from the Glen Scotia Distillery in Campbeltown, Scotland, for the Japanese market.

### A Long-Awaited Core Expression from the 'Holy Land of Whisky'

Located in Campbeltown, once known as the 'Capital of Whisky,' Glen Scotia Distillery has overcome a decade-long production bottleneck. They have now released 'Glen Scotia 12 Year Old,' a new core product intended to serve as the pillar of the brand.

Bottled with a vibrant 'Royal Blue' label representing the color of their maturation warehouse doors, this expression harmonizes tropical fruit aromas with the signature briny notes of Campbeltown malt, establishing it as the new face of the distillery.

Product Name: Glen Scotia 12 Year Old

This expression embodies the distillery's house style, featuring tropical fruit flavors, a slightly oily mouthfeel, and coastal nuances. The whisky is created through an average fermentation time of 128.8 hours and slow distillation, then matured entirely in first-fill bourbon casks. The royal blue label pays homage to the warehouse doors, while the chalk-white lettering reflects the distillery's exterior walls, symbolizing the pride of the distillery.

### Tasting Notes

The nose offers aromas of coastal breeze, honey, vanilla, and exotic tropical fruits. On the palate, notes of caramelized sugar, citrus acidity, and fresh pineapple integrate with gentle oak nuances. The finish is long, featuring sweet spices such as cinnamon and nutmeg.

### About Glen Scotia Distillery

Founded in 1832, Glen Scotia is one of the few remaining distilleries in Campbeltown, once hailed as the 'Whisky Capital of the World.' Despite facing closures and re-openings throughout its history, it has seen energetic releases since being acquired by the Loch Lomond Group in 2014. It is known for its classic Campbeltown briny character and rich body.

Furthermore, Ashley Smith, known for developing numerous limited releases, has been appointed as the new Master Blender. The distillery has also revamped its heart—the mash tun—by creating a full replica based on the original 1832 blueprints to ensure the transmission of traditional flavors to the next generation.
