TCK to Host Its Only Handicap Graded Stakes Race, the 'Santa Anita Trophy (SIII)'!

Tokyo City Keiba (TCK) will host the exchange race 'Santa Anita Trophy (SIII)' during the 6th Ohi Race Meeting (July 20–24), marking the 31st anniversary of its friendship agreement with Santa Anita Park in the United States. The official TCK YouTube live program 'UmaKyun' will feature a variety of regular hosts and special guests delivering race predictions and entertaining commentary from the first to the final race. Additionally, the venue will host the 'Santa Anita Week,' a Japan-U.S. friendship commemorative event, featuring special overseas horse racing events, authentic American cuisine, and the sale of the Kentucky Derby (G1) official cocktail, the 'Mint Julep'.

Japan-U.S. Friendship Commemorative Race: 'Santa Anita Trophy (SIII)'

On Wednesday, July 22, TCK will host the 'Santa Anita Trophy (SIII),' an exchange race commemorating the friendship between Santa Anita Park—the heartland of American dirt racing—and TCK. This is the only handicap graded stakes race held at Ohi Racecourse, and the thrilling 1,600-meter race is expected to draw intense excitement and attention.

On Tuesday, July 21, HG from the comedy duo 'Razor Ramon' will appear, and on Thursday, July 23, former Japanese national volleyball team member Takako Oba will make her debut appearance!!

Japan-U.S. Friendship Commemorative Event: 'Santa Anita Week'

The 6th Ohi Race Meeting (July 20–24) will feature the 'Santa Anita Week,' a commemorative event celebrating 31 years of friendship with Santa Anita Park in the United States.

Special events during the period include a special exhibition honoring Forever Young, the horse that won the Breeders' Cup Classic (G1), the world's premier dirt race. Additionally, a JRA Jockeys Talk Stage will be held featuring renowned trainer Yoshito Yahagi and jockeys Keita Tosaki and Rusei Sakai, all closely associated with TCK. A 'SANTA ANITA Raffle' will also be held, offering a chance to win premium prizes.

Furthermore, authentic American cuisine and the official Kentucky Derby (G1) cocktail 'Mint Julep' will be available for purchase, along with American horse racing merchandise and U.S. lifestyle goods. Special decorations for Santa Anita Week will transform Ohi Racecourse into a fully American-themed atmosphere for five days.

[About the Friendship Exchange with Santa Anita Park]

TCK established a friendship agreement with Santa Anita Park in California, USA, in 1995. Since then, TCK has hosted the 'Santa Anita Trophy (SIII)' at Ohi Racecourse, while Santa Anita Park has hosted the 'TOKYO CITY CUP' as exchange races. In addition to personnel and horse exchanges, both organizations have mutually inspired each other in race formats and customer service, contributing to mutual development.

Furthermore, since 2019, Santa Anita Park has provided up to two entry slots for TCK horses in the 'Santa Anita Derby (G1),' a key preparatory race for the North American classics. In 2023, Mandarin Hero, supported by TCK's overseas campaign, finished 2nd in this race and subsequently competed in the 'Kentucky Derby (G1),' showcasing strong performance. In 2026, TCK will further expand support for older horses competing in the 'Santa Anita Handicap (G1),' the premier race for seasoned horses.

TCK will continue to deepen its friendship with Santa Anita Park and share the charm of TCK and horse racing with audiences in both Japan and the United States.

TCK Children's Festival

On Monday, July 20 (a national holiday), a traditional festival event will be held at Paka Paka Plaza. Children in elementary school and younger can enjoy the event for free, so please visit Ohi Racecourse with your family!
