Tokyo Metro Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Taito-ku, Tokyo; President: Akihiko Kosaka; hereinafter referred to as "Tokyo Metro") will commence one-person operation on the entire Ginza Line, from Asakusa Station to Shibuya Station, starting Saturday, June 27, 2026.
Tokyo Metro is already implementing one-person operation on the Marunouchi Line, Chiyoda Line (partial section), Yurakucho Line, Namboku Line, and Fukutoshin Line. In one-person operation, the driver confirms the boarding and alighting status of passengers via a monitor installed in the driver's cab. Additionally, sensors are installed on platform doors to detect obstacles, ensuring a system that allows trains to depart safely. Furthermore, movable steps are installed in areas where there is a wide gap between the train and the platform to prevent passengers from stepping off or falling when boarding or alighting.
In the event of an abnormality inside the train, the driver or a controller at the Integrated Control Center will grasp the situation via the in-car emergency communication device (equipped with a call function for passengers) and respond appropriately.
There will be no changes to the train schedule associated with the commencement of one-person operation.
Tokyo Metro will continue to fulfill its role as a core operator of the railway network in the Tokyo metropolitan area, ensuring that customers can use its services with peace of mind.
